Group 'go naked' and develop bid to run Government programme 'in the open' and online

Simonbidding A group led by RNUK Ltd’s CEO, Simon Berry, developed their bid to run the £1.2 million Innovation Exchange for the Office of the Third Sector, in the open and online for everyone to see and contribute to at www.innovationexchange.net

This is an innovation in its on right and is the first time this has been done. It is in stark contrast to the traditional ‘cloak and dagger’ approach to bid preparation.

Newly appointed Outcomes Champion, David Ellis, puts the 'super hero' into ruralnet|uk.

Superman

David Ellis, Project Manager with ruralnet|uk has successfully been offered a place on the National Outcomes Programme, to train as one of their Outcomes Champions.  Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, David will deliver important outcomes training to rural organisations at both local and national level within England over the next 12 months.  David will help enable voluntary and community organisations to demonstrate how they can improve their effectiveness in communicating exactly what their work is actually achieving for the communities they serve.

ruralnet|uk employee treks to fundraising success in Vietnam

ruralnet employee, David Head, raises mountain of money for Mencap on Vietnam trek

ruralnet|uk employee, David Head returned this week from Vietnam following a 10 day fundraising trip to one of the world’s most fascinating countries.

David trekked through the Sapa region, an area surrounded by soaring mountains, cloaked by dense misty forests.

A total of £2750 was raised by David for the charity Mencap through book sales, organised treasure hunts, giving talks, sponsored walk of Hadrians Wall, Easter Egg raffle and through donations made on the JustGiving.com website.

Capacity Building in Progress!

Home_r2_c5Networks Online relaunches with a new interface.

Networks Online, the collaborative ICT network provided by ruralnet|uk has been relaunched. A capacity building grant from the Active Communities Directorate has enabled ruralnet|uk to radically overhaul its online services.

This has allowed ruralnet|uk to make its service simpler, easier to access and more effective. This will benefit over 4,000 Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) customers by simplifying access to the capacity building resources contained within the network.

Everyone has a view on the future of the rural post office network - but will everyone's views be heard? Perhaps you have a good idea on the future of the network; perhaps your own experience shows a vital aspect has been over-looked. Now there is a simple way to get your point across quickly and easily. The recent popularity in 'blogging' - contributing to a weblog or online message board - has inspired ruralnet|uk to set up a blog for this issue: a simple technique allowing thousands to add their personal comments to the debate. Over half of all UK homes have access to an online computer - as well as libraries, youth clubs, schools, day centres, UK online centres, and even some Post Offices! Anyone with an interest can visit the blog and leave their comment on the consultation questions, and read what others are saying.
