The free ruralnet|portal search engine, the 'Google'™ for UK rural development, has been enhanced today with an advanced search option to make finding what you want a much more precise affair. The search engine can be accessed at www.ruralnet.org.uk/home.shtml
The database behind the ruralnet|portal has been built up since 1997 and has been updated on an ongoing basis ever since by ruralnet|uk. This database now has more than 2,600 searchable links to rural development resources on the internet, with the additional benefit that users can submit their own for inclusion. A form allows user feedback which is utilised to continually enhance the service.
'ruralnet|uk seeks to provide rural development workers with high value information, communication and collaboration services,' said Simon Berry, ruralnet|uk's Chief Executive. 'The ruralnet|portal is free and is one of the pillars of our information services. The other, xPRESS Digest, takes the form of a concise summary of the day's regeneration news. This is a subscription service; however, the headlines appear on the ruralnet|online website each day for all to see.
'Our communication and collaboration services are provided through ruralnet|online – the rural development community. This is a set of trusted online spaces where known users can pose questions to our panel of experts (and get quick answers), manage projects and implement support services for community groups.'
