ruralnet employee, David Head, raises mountain of money for Mencap on Vietnam trek
ruralnet|uk employee, David Head returned this week from Vietnam following a 10 day fundraising trip to one of the world’s most fascinating countries.
David trekked through the Sapa region, an area surrounded by soaring mountains, cloaked by dense misty forests.
A total of £2750 was raised by David for the charity Mencap through book sales, organised treasure hunts, giving talks, sponsored walk of Hadrians Wall, Easter Egg raffle and through donations made on the JustGiving.com website.
Everyone at ruralnet|uk is very proud of David’s achievements to date and have actively supported his fundraising efforts over the years.
David is committed to raising money for Mencap and has been on a number of previous expeditions, including Nepal, Mozambique and Chile, raising a total of £13,000 for the charity.
David said “Vietnam offered an opportunity to see a country of traditional charm and rare beauty rapidly opening up to the outside world. In recent years, its rural economy has started to benefit from the tourism trade. More and more backpackers and trekkers are being attracted to the country due to its great natural environment and the lack of mass tourism. Another more unusual thread of tourism which some areas are starting to focus on is the fascination associated with the war.”
